Mr. Leonardson’s career spans over 55 years across the Western United States, Eastern Canada, and Chile, exploring for and mining numerous commodities including gold, silver, platinum, base metals, and iron ore for Anaconda, Molycorp and Barrick.
Mr. Leonardson joined Barrick Gold Corp in 1992 where he worked at the Goldstrike Mine as Sr. Mine Geologist and Geological Advisor. At Goldstrike, Bob focused on geologic mapping, cross section interpretation and three-dimensional modeling which led to understanding the complex fold and thrust architecture related to the massive gold deposit at Goldstrike and the Northern Carlin Trend. Following Barrick’s acquisition of Placer Dome, Bob exported that methodology and knowledge to the Cortez Trend which contributed to the discovery of millions of ounces of gold at Pipeline, Cortez Hills and Goldrush/Fourmile.
One of Bob’s greatest contributions while at Barrick was as a mentor. Charles Weakly, NuLegacy’s Exploration Manager and consultants Mike Penick and Nancy Richter were among the many whose exploration success benefitted from Bob’s mentoring. With the addition of Bob to the team, it is anticipated that NuLegacy will advance the geologic understanding of the Carlin mineralizing system at Red Hill, resulting in the discovery of high-grade mineralization.
Ms. Nancy Richter, formerly US Exploration Manager, Barrick Gold Exploration Inc., has joined our geo-technical consultancy team. Ms. Richter has a proven record of discovery including credits on the very high-grade Fourmile deposit north of the Goldrush deposit and subsequent expansion drilling.

Prior to joining Barrick, Ms. Richter worked as an exploration and mine geologist for several other companies, including as a Project Geologist for Newmont at the Post/Betze Mine on the Carlin trend. Ms. Richter holds an MS in Economic Geology from the University of Arizona.
Ms. Richter has previously worked with Mr. Charles Weakly, our Exploration Manager and together they will focus on our summer 2023 drilling program. They will select 4 or 5 of the best holes to be drilled initially out of the 25+ possible drill sites that the geo-crew have selected.
